It's time to Spring Forward with the time and our genealogy skills! RootsTech 2025 starts today, Thursday, March 6, 2025. It's free! It's online!

From their site:

"It's never been easier to learn from global genealogy experts!

  • 200+ new online sessions in over 26 languages

  • Join keynote sessions live from the comfort of your own home

  • Chat online with other attendees worldwide

  • Get digital syllabi and class handouts"

So far, I have signed up for 11 different sessions over the three days, and if I miss one, or want to see it again, it will be available online, also for FREE afterwards.

One feature I plan to take advantage of this year is "Relatives at RootsTech." If you already have at least part of your family tree on FamilySearch.org (also free to open an account), people who have matching relatives/ancestors will show up online to chat if you like when they check in. You can check their trees, where they are on an interactive map, and how you are related. This is also global, so if you have a DNA match in Australia, or cousins in Ireland, for example, here's a great chance to meet up! Here's link to invite your friends, just in case they haven't been bitten by the Genealogy Bug yet. Are you related to your bestie?

All of last year's sessions are searchable online at:

https://www.familysearch.org/en/rootstech/library They cover everything from the basics like how to use FamilySearch and some great DNA clues.

Get signed up and let's meet online this year with this link!

Next year? Hope to see you in Salt Lake City or online when we will Spring Forward in Genealogy again!

Have any questions about this or your tree? Send me an email!

Regards,

Leslie Ryan
