Family History Month Fun

We have entered the last quarter of 2026! And, as usual, for genealogists this is a sign of The Holiday Season! Welcome to Family History Month, established by Congress in 2001 to encourage people to celebrate their heritage and family memories. Let's talk about Family History Fun for Families!
FamilySearch (your FREE source for all things genealogical) has some fun things to do with your family both have a lot of fun suggestions on celebrating with your family that are quick and rewarding like "Find your last name's meaning and origin" at https://www.familysearch.org/en/surname. Type in your name and see what comes up!

Try "All About Me" at https://www.familysearch.org/en/discovery/about/. You can continue as a guest, or sign in to learn about your birth year. It's more fun if you have a tree there already, but you can learn your first name's origins, how many people share your name, and play trivia! It is fast loading enough that even your screen addicted family members should enjoy it.
We had a great day last Saturday at the Dallas Genealogical Society Fall Seminar given by Diana Elder of Family Locket about using AI for genealogy. She really inspired me to dive in deeper with some of the different bots. It was very informative and after watching Microsoft's Co-Pilot to whip out a form in less than three minutes, I'm sold. However, I digress.
Family Locket has a very thorough webpage named "Family History for Children and Teens" with some great ideas you should check out here:

I hope you have a fun Family History month ahead and a very fruitful genealogical "harvest." If I can be of any help, please send me an email to get your FREE family tree evaluation to WhoIComeFromInfo@gmail.com
Thanks for stopping by again,
Leslie Ryan
