Free Online Genealogy Party

A Free Online Genealogy Party is coming to you NEXT WEEKEND March 5-7! All of your cousins, even the ones you don't know yet, are invited too!
Every year FamilySearch.org puts on their giant Free Online Genealogy Party also known as the RootsTech Convention that you can attend in person in Salt Lake, or online on your own schedule at no charge! No dress code! Last year there were estimated to be 15,000 there in person, and millions online AROUND THE WORLD!
They have a fun thing called "Discover Your Relatives" during the convention where they will match ancestors in your online FamilySearch tree with other people in person, or attending the online party. As of this week, 139,937 people have signed up to participate in the online gathering that will last until April 30, 2026. I have two people online right now that are distant cousins I didn't know about who might have more information about our common ancestor that is not online!
To meet new cousins, you just have to load up some family data to your FREE FamilySearch account which only requires an email address: https://www.familysearch.org/en/identity/signup/
You can see all of the classes and lectures that actually begin on Wednesday the 4th, as this is a world-wide event, and sort by language, skill level, and interest. Their existing online catalog has content in 43 languages!
Some events are only available in person, but most of these will be there online in their library forever. Most of the presentations also have handouts you can save to your own computer.
You can scroll through the lectures for every day and click which ones you are interested in, and RootsTech will set up a calendar for you on their site. And don't worry about double booking or if you miss a class, you can watch the programs any time.
