Welcome to Family History Month for 2025! October has been celebrated as Family History Month since 2001. What can we do to try to spread the addiction, sorry I mean, love of Genealogy to our family members for FREE?
Here's some great FREE ideas from FamilySearch.org
Read about the origin of your family name at FamilySearch, or you can Google with quotes, "YourFamilyName origin" and you will find several sites come up with histories. Even Ancestry will give you a free answer, while encouraging you to learn more with an account.
Go to Wikipedia and look up the country of origin you just found. It will give you maps, history, and demographics. You might also find you are related to someone famous!

Search for a street address where you or your parents or grandparents used to live and take a screen shot of the house! Just a few steps to do a screen shot. Center the subject in the middle of the screen, then at the same time, hold CTRL on the lower left of your keyboard and PRT SCR above the number row. Then go to a blank document and press CTRL and V at the same time, to PASTE, and then you can crop and edit. I was able to find homes based on Census addresses for some clients recently, and they were delighted!
Ask your parents or grandparents about any old photo albums or scrapbooks and go through them together while they still might remember who the people are, then label the pictures with a pencil!
FamilySearch.org is free to use, you just need to sign up for the free account. They have a list of THIRTY ONE ways to celebrate Family History Month. See what you think might be fun for you and your family!
Don't forget we offer a FREE REVIEW of your family info to see if we can help you or not. This review takes about 2 hours, and there is NO OBLIGATION to continue any further. I love doing Genealogical research and would love to see your brick walls, especially during Family History Month! Send me an email at the address below.
Thanks to all my loyal readers, and especially to my newest subscribers, for sharing your time with me. I look forward to hearing what you are up to!
Best regards,

Leslie Ryan
