Voting Records For Clues

White desk marked Democracy with blue, white and red cards saying Go Vote

A quick suggestion for your Family Tree research on this day after Election Day 2024. Search State Voting Records for Clues about your families!

Both FamilySearch and Ancestry have searchable databases by State. The dates per state vary widely but you can find out all sorts of things, including an new spouse or an occupation.

When you logon to FamilySearch, click on Search, then Records, and scroll down to "Find A Collection" and enter the state of interest.

Ancestry is easy as Voter Lists come up as a first choice with Census records. Here is the record for one of my distant half-cousins, John Sylvester Jennings, in San Mateo, California!

Speaking of Ancestry, their Holiday Sale is on! They have an Ancestry DNA and Family Tree Package on sale for $39, and for $1 more, you can get a 3 month World Explorer subscription! The sale ends November 27, so this is clearly a gift giving promotion! Plus they also are offering 30% Off Gift Memberships! Here is a link:

DNA tests and research memberships make great gifts any time of year, but there will be lots of good opportunities to give and save this year. If you are concerned or confused about all of the choices, drop me a line. I'm glad to help.

Thank you,

Leslie Ryan
