Unexpected Genealogy Finds?

We've all read funny or mean obituaries, but today I ran across a shocking clipping at Newspapers.com for a James Collins:

Wow, right? There's got to be a story there! Made me wonder how it all turned out. So, I popped their names in Ancestry to see what else might come up in a search.

Guess what! The SAME EXACT CLIP was published five years later in 1929 in The Herald-Press Saint Joseph, Michigan · Wednesday, October 09, 1929. If you click on that city and date link, it will take you to the Newspapers.com clip. I bet this was a handy filler item to take up that blank inch and a half at the end of a newspaper column.

Rule 1 of Genealogy is always CHECK YOUR SOURCES! Rule 2 is always DOUBLE check you sources! Especially if your result is unexpected. And as a good genealogist you SHOULD always question your findings!

Rule 3 should be have fun while you're doing Genealogy!
